Publication of book praising leader Kim Jong Il

 

 A book titled “Kim Jong Il, Chairman of the National Defense Commission of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and north Korea in the 21st century”, edited by the Institution of the south Korean People’s Right under the Solidarity for Implementing the South-North Joint Declaration, was published by a publishing house.

The book is composed with four chapters and is elucidated politics, economic line, mode of leadership, lines of national reunification and external relations of leader Kim Jong Il.

Noting that NDC Chairman Kim Jong Il enjoys high authority at home and abroad, the publishing house said that it is no exaggeration to say that correct understanding of Chairman Kim Jong Il is the first step to reunification.

The publishing house said that the book dealt the revolutionary activities of Chairman Kim Jong Il as it is, putting away prejudices. The book will be helpful to the readers who have poor understanding about north Korea, it added.    

    

October 4 declaration, patriotic declaration for Korea’s reunification and prosperity

 

“By implementing the October 4 declaration thoroughly, we should take off the hangover from the age of confrontation, convert north-south relations into the by-our-nation-itself relationship not only in name but in reality and make a new history of peace and prosperity,” this is a part of the joint New Year editorial published in the DPRK, the country of Songun.

The historic inter-Korean summit meeting was held in Pyongyang last October and the Declaration for Development of North-South Relations and Peace and Prosperity was adopted at the meeting amid great interest and expectation of the Korean nation and humankind of the world. This was a significant event in advancing the cause of Korea’s reunification onto a new stage under the banner of the June 15 Joint Declaration adopted in 2000.

With the adoption of the October 4 declaration the Korean nation could have an action program for applying the June 15 joint declaration to practice in an all-round way. This means that the Korean people could have an reliable guarantee to develop inter-Korean relations with the spirit of “By our nation itself” in keeping with demand of development, ensure lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula and achieve co-prosperity and independent reunification.     

The October 4 declaration stipulates that the issue of reunification should be settled from a viewpoint of national independence.  The declaration specifies that the north and the south should respect and trust each other irrespective of differing ideologies and systems and exterminate military hostile relations.  In particular it stresses the issue of adjusting legal institutional mechanisms detrimental to reunification. The declaration notes that military tension should be eased and issue of dispute be settled through negotiations and set forth realistic measure to ensure permanent peace. It also reflects problems in detail to activate multilateral cooperation and exchange for co-prosperity of the nation.        

The October 4 declaration for development of inter-Korean relations and peace and prosperity enjoys support from the entire Korean people, as it is a patriotic program to implement the June 15 joint declaration, a declaration of national independent reunification, and propels the Korean nation to reunification movement.  

The south Korean people from all walks of life and the pro-reunification organizations intensify activities to implement the October 4 declaration. The pro-reunification organizations including the Solidarity for Progress in south Korea, the South Headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country’s Reunification and the Solidarity for Implementing the South-North Joint Declaration held news conferences, forums and other functions to support the October declaration and conducted activities to propagate the vitality of the declaration. In addition, civic organizations set period for abolition of the National Security Law waged intensive struggle to abolish the law, noting that removing the legacy of the age of confrontation is an imminent issue. More than 100 youth organizations including the Youth and Students Headquarters for Implementing the South–North Joint Declaration held a rally in front of the National Assembly to release a declaration of youth for supporting and implementing the October 4 declaration. Recently the south Koreans from all social standings intensify the struggle to withdraw the US forces from south Korea, protest against the south Korea-US joint military drills against north Korea and to demand the conclusion of peace pact.          

No one can check the Korean people’s struggle to realize independent reunification, peace and prosperity under the banner of “By our nation itself.”  

The joint New Year editorial put forward the slogan for Korea’s reunification “Open up a new era of independent reunification and peace and prosperity by pooling the efforts of our nation!”

The US Solidarity Committee for Supporting the AINDF and the South Korean People’s Struggle fully supports the slogan and expresses solidarity  to the south Korean people’s struggle for independent reunification against the US and for peace against war.  

 



Let us struggle with faith and hope of sure victory

 

The Solidarity for Implementing the June 15 South-North Joint Declaration posted the orientation of struggle of the progressive camp this year on its Homepage on January 9.

The article stressed that the progressive camp should struggle with faith and hope as this year is a year of a historical turn will be happened.

It noted about tasks to be faced before the progressive camp.

Firstly, the consciousness of the great national unity should be heightened and the might of the Korean nation be demonstrated throughout the world.

Removing the illusion about the US is important in opening up a new era of independent reunification, peace and prosperity by pooling efforts of the Korean nation. To this end, believe in power of our nation. Especially, propagate the reality of north Korea that is building a thriving nation by dint of the Songun politics. The progressive camps should bring out every sort of publications heralding the power of the Korean nation and hold exhibition, seminar and publication of paper.

Secondly, struggle to implement the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration should be intensified. The June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration are milestone for Korea’s reunification and a sword of independent reunification, peace and prosperity. Should the June 15 joint declaration and October 4 declaration are implemented, the Korean nation will achieve reunification, no matter how the situation may change.

The progressive camp should not tolerate the pro-US sycophancy and treachery hindering reconciliation and unity of the nation. Any action to belittle the June 15 joint declaration and October 4 declaration should not be overlooked.

Every obstacle detrimental to the development of inter-Korean relations should be removed. The National Security Law is main barrier hampering the development of inter-Korean relations. The NSL must be abolished as soon as possible and legal and institutional mechanisms should be adjusted with a view to developing the south-north relations to meet the purpose of reunification.

There are danger of collision and war on the Korean Peninsula where massive US troops station in south Korea. Obstructions blocking inter-Korean reconciliation and unity should be removed.

The progressive camps should strengthen the June 15 All-Korean Committee and vitalize inter-Korean exchange under the banner of independent reunification, peace and prosperity. The role of the June 15 All-Korean Committee should be improved to enhance the will of the Korean people to reunify the country and solidarity. The June 16 All-Korean Committee should fulfill its role to vitalize inter-Korean exchange under the banner of independent reunification, peace and prosperity.
Thirdly, struggle for peace against war and withdrawal of the US troops from south Korea should be intensified.

The progressive camp should turn out in the struggle to remove the US military bases in south Korea. The US army is the source of war and main obstacle to reunification. The US expands the US military bases under the pretext of “strategic flexibility” to station the US troops in south Korea’s after Korea’s reunification. The progressive camp should unfold a mass struggle for the withdrawal of the US troops from south Korea and the abolition of the military bases by triggering off the south Korean sentiment against the US produced by servile attitude of the south Korean government excessive expenses for expansion of the military bases and serious pollution of the US military bases.

The progressive camp should establish genuine peaceful mechanism free from the US troops through the struggle to conclude peace agreement.

The progressive camp should oppose to the US hostile policy against north Korea, joint military exercises and arms buildup. The US hostile policy against north Korea is the source of aggravating tension on the Korean Peninsula and a primary factor obstructing the development of north Korea-US relations. The US schemes to continue aggressive war exercises by renaming “RSOI” and “Ulji Focus Lens.”

The progressive camp should strongly oppose to war maneuvers of the US from the New Year.

Fourthly, avert “globalization” of neo-liberalism and wage struggle to achieve people’s rights to existence.

The people’s lives can only guarantee through struggle. The progressive camps should actively struggle against the neo-liberalistic policy.

Fifthly, the progressive camp should be strengthened through unity and innovation.

It should be consolidated in order to overcome changed situation. Renovation should be realized under the principle of unity. The main direction of renovation is to have people-centered viewpoint and possess ability in accordance with a new era. Firm outlook on the people should be established regarding the demand of people as a criterion.                             

Victory is in store for the Korean people who wage vigorous struggle with faith and will.

Let us bring about a historical turn with bold courage without fail, shattering defeatism and passiveness.
