Unquestionable support to defend and implement the inter-Korean declarations

The June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration are banner that the Korean nation should hold higher in the efforts to realize the independent reunification of the country, leader Kim Jong Il said in his historic discourse “The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea Is a Socialist State of Juche with Invincible Might” given by to Rodong Sinmun, the organ of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, and Minju Joson, the organ of the DPRK government, on September 5.

The June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration are banner of struggle and weapon of invincibility that the Korean nation should hold higher in its efforts to realize the independent reunification of the country. 

Infallible and realistic way for achieving Korea’s reunification should be proposed in order to propel the reunification movement of Korea in the turbulent situation on the Korean Peninsula.

The inter-Korean June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration were published thanks to leader Kim Jong Il.

The inter-Korean declarations stipulate the most correct and realistic ways for realizing the cause of Korea’s reunification.

The north and the south of Korea agreed in the June 15 joint declaration to solve the issue of Korea’s reunification independently with the concerted efforts of the Korean nation.

The issue of Korea’s reunification is the one to terminate the US occupation and domination over south Korea and establish national sovereignty. Korea’s reunification should be solved on the principle of national independence in accordance with will of the Korean nation, rejecting the foreign forces’ interference in the internal affairs of the Korean nation.

In addition, the issue of Korea’s reunification is not the issue of solving contradiction and confrontation within the nation but to promote reconciliation and unity of the nation. In order to realize Korea’s reunification the entire Korean people should unite under the banner of reunification.

The June 15 joint declaration, which clarified the idea of “by the Korean nation itself,” encouraged the Korean nation and opened the era of June 15 reunification by arousing them to the struggle for reunification.

The October 4 declaration is an action program to implement the June 15 joint declaration that indicates practical ways of developing the inter-Korean relations and achieving peace and co-prosperity of the nation.

The October 4 declaration clarified all the problems to be tackled in realizing independent reunification, peace and prosperity based on successes and experiences in the June 15 era of reunification. The October 4 declaration stipulates the issue of defending the spirit of the June 15 joint declaration and implement it, convert the inter-Korean relations into one of mutual respect, trust and reconciliation transcending differences in ideology and systems, the issue of securing peace after the end of hostility and military tension and the issue of developing national economy on the principle of common interests and co-prosperity. The October 4 declaration serves as an immortal reunification program encouraging the Korean nation with confidence in reunification and opening up a historic turning point in achieving independent reunification, peace and prosperity.      

The inter-Korean declarations are the only reunification program of Korea that the entire Korean nation as well as the world progressives who love justice.

However, the Lee Myung-bak regime of south Korea, has made desperate efforts to liquidate the era of independent reunification, while opposing the inter-Korean declarations. The Lee regime belittles the inter-Korean declarations, independent reunification program of the Korean nation, and its implementation. It drives the inter-Korean relations to a collapse and foments anti-reunification suppression within south Korea.       

The Lee Myung-bak regime is malevolently challenging the cause of independent reunification while negating the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration, but this is no more than miserable last-ditch effort of the discarded of history whose days are numbered. Steadfast is the will of the Korean nation to defend and implement the inter-Korean declarations and win victory in the cause of reunification despite any storms and outrageous challenge.

Now the Korean nation will surely achieve the historic cause of independent reunification, peace and prosperity by vigorously struggling under the banner of the inter-Korean declarations as indicated by Kim Jong Il.
